Removing Rust Stains from Concrete

There are a few methods to removing rust stains on the concrete.
Lemon – On method is using lemon. Lemon contains high levels of acid, which work great for breaking down rust and other minerals. Start by using lemon juice and apply it on top of the rust stains and leave the lemon on the stain for about 15 minutes. Next use a stiff bristled brush and scrub the rust stain to help loosen the rust minerals from the concrete. With a pressure washer, wash the concrete to fully remove the stain.
Vinegar – Another method to removing rust stains is by using vinegar. Once again, apply the vinegar using a spray bottle on the rust stain. Like lemon, vinegar contains high levels of acid which break up the rust. After applying the vinegar, let it set on the rust stain for 10 to 15 minutes. Again, use a stiff bristled brush to scrub the rust stain. With the aid of the power washer, wash the rust and the vinegar away. When using lemon or vinegar to remove rust or other stains on concrete or stone, make sure to rinse them away thoroughly to ensure the acid is washed away, or the acid can continue to erode the concrete.
Pressure Cleaning – There are also commercial cleaning agents that are often used with a power washer. Professional power washers will use chemical agents designed to treat certain stains, including rust. The cleaning agents are used inside the tank of the power washer. Some pressure washers use two separate tanks. One is for the cleaner and the other for the water. When the pressure washer is used, the two will mix together. Some power washers have one tank and the cleaner and water are premixed together. The strength of the pressure washer provides enough force, combined with the cleaning agents, to remove most stains.
